The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.

This reminds me of the oft used sermon illustration of the theologian Karl Barth being asked about the essence of Christian faith answered, “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so”
This isn’t just God being happy about us. This delight is how the bible describes the relationship between Father and Son.
Prov 8:30 then I was beside him, like a master workman, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always,
Isaiah 42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations.
Mal 3:1 “Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the LORD of hosts.
Delighting in us is God drawing us into the love and joy that has existed in the Trinity through all eternity
“Delighting in us is God drawing us into the love and joy that has existed in the Trinity through all eternity.”
Well put, Darach. The Father delights in us as he does the Son because the Spirit of Christ lives in us.
