Our daughter is overseas with a team serving disadvantaged people. Sometimes she’s working in a home for people with disabilities, sometimes she’s sitting down over a cup of tea with a young woman, sometimes she’s buying ice cream for a new friend she met at a ferry dock:
In all of this Jenna hopes to build relationships with the people God places in her life, show them his love, and tell them the good news of who he is and what he’s done. That ministry along with the picture look to me like a living portrait of Proverbs 25:13 –
Like a snow-cooled drink at harvest time
is a trustworthy messenger to the one who sends him;
he refreshes the spirit of his master.
Just change the pronouns him/he/his to her/she/her in that verse and you’ve got Jenna. She is seeking to be trustworthy with the Master’s message.
And while ice cream may not be exactly a snow-cooled drink, I think the analogy still works. The love of God is a refreshment to the one who receives and to the one who gives.
