C.S. Lewis on Food & Jesus

How can I not love a quote where C.S. Lewis talks about two of my favorite topics: food and Jesus.

“A man can eat his dinner without understanding exactly how food nourishes him. A man can accept what Christ has done without knowing how it works: indeed, he certainly would not know how it works until he has accepted it.”

  1. Thanks. Talking about food and Christ, this thought came to mind: In Matthew 6:16 Jesus says “WHEN you fast” not “IF you fast” Been thinking on this a lot lately… I need to fast more often.

    That’s a great quote.

Leave it to Lewis to state this truth beautifully. His analogies are always so easy to grasp and written so concisely and elegantly that they seem effortless, though I’m sure they weren’t. I wrote this down for my “quote book” I carry with me.
