Resurrection Greeting

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. (Matthew 28:5-8.)

The first Christians: afraid, filled with joy, and running to spread the news! Want to join them?

I love the thought of them daring to hope. Have a very Blessed Easter! He is Risen!

“Afraid, and yet filled with joy”. Amen.

  3. One cool thing about these women that I love is that on the weekend that Jesus died (which most Messianics believe was on a Thursday since it was the week of Passover & that that made it a High Sabbath weekend, where the Sabbath would go on for two days so Jesus’ body would need to be taken down because it was both Passover and a high Sabbath, rather than one day on Saturday – so Jesus probably rose from the dead on Saturday night when the Sabbath would be ended) that these women had made sure that as soon as they could on the “first day of the week at dawn” according to scripture. They’d go to prepare Jesus’ body as they’d visit Him, only to find that He was not there! I just love that they probably didn’t sleep much that night getting all the stuff together (and with the earthquakes, I am sure that didn’t help at all) that they needed and couldn’t wait to see their Savior and care for Him even while He was physically dead in their mindset. It is just really cool! How amazing that must be to have an angel appear to them to tell them what to do. . .women of all things to spread a message like that. Who’d believe them? That’s just amazing how Jesus stirs up the pot.

Jesus choosing the women impresses me as well, Victoria. It’s another example of how he doesn’t follow the cultural norms!

He knew too, as natural communicators, the women would get the message out! (he he)
