[Tomorrow I have a two part series on how I came to Christ. It involves American girls, English railway cars and a devilish correspondence. I hope you’ll come back to read it! In the meantime, I have a short reflection on what it means to be clothed in righteousness.]
***
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear.(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)
Did you ever wonder why Revelation 19:7-8 says that the Bride of Christ (the church) is given new clothes as if they were a free gift, but that this fine linen represents the righteous acts of God’s people as if they were a reward? Something just came to me about this passage: these righteous acts are the result of the Spirit of Christ living in us (Romans 8:10) and working in and through us (1 Peter 1:1-2) so that we are clothed in Christ (Romans 13:14, Galatians 3:27), the righteous One (1 John 2:1).
No wonder our new linen clothes* are clean and bright; they are the righteousness of Christ himself!
A happy Sunday to you all.
*In case you’re wondering if they come in your size, the answer is YES!
Looking forward to tomorrow’s post. Sounds C.S. Lewisesque!
(I’m still blogging about the wedding of Kitty and Levin in Anna Karenina. Today’s post touched on the mystery of Christ and the Church.)
Side car, train car. Same thing, right?
I’ll be checking out your take on AK later today!
One size fits all!

What a miracle is that this linen doesn’t wrinkle . . . 😉
And no one is ever heard to say, “My dear, you tumble my gown!”
